Relationship Between Human Beings and Nature Essay

Now is the time for human beings and nature to collaborate. Normally, most people would say, â€Å"human beings always destroy nature.† It is true. However, only a few people know the truth of why human beings destroy nature. It is a huge mistake to think of nature individually. First of all, the main reason people destroy nature is to use trees as materials for paper. As everybody knows, cutting trees has been becoming a reason for global warming. In the past fifty years, the number of people increased more than ten times. Of course, ten times more paper is consumed. The number of the trees in the world has been decreasing rapidly and the environment of the world is getting worse. On the contrary, there was some good news for protected nature. For example because of advancements in the economy, distribution of electric books helped to decrease the consumption of paper. Also, people think of nature more than before. Even now, the numbers of people in the world are increasing, so to have a good relationship between human beings and nature is not easy, it probably the situation is getting worse. We have to keep changing something. When I was living in Canada, I heard the Canadians have pride in protecting the earth. For example, Canada has a lot of natural resources, but they never sell these. They think selling oil leads to the destruction of nature. They also have strict rules for themselves. It is a big violation if they hurt nature or animals. I often think about the world. Everybody knows how to collaborate with nature and how the world would change if we keep destroys. Individual power is really small, but nothing is changed if we do not change. So, now is the time for human beings and nature to collaborate.

Highway Administrator Paper

The administrator of the highway department was given a task to find a way to fill more potholes. This program to fill more potholes would decrease the number of complaints in the city and the number of damages to the residents' cars. To do this, the Highway Administrator implemented a goal-setting program, in hopes this would encourage the workers to fill more potholes. This program sets a standard for each crew to fill a certain amount of potholes per day, no matter the location of where the crew was working.The results will then be posted for all of the crews to observe and compare. As an incentive to fill the most potholes possible, the crew who filled the greatest amount of potholes each week was given a reward. I personally believe excellent results will be achieved since the Highway Administrator's plan follows the design of the goal setting theory. â€Å"Goal setting theory was based on the premise that much human action is purposeful, in that it is directed by conscious goa ls. † (Neil, 1994) A more updated definition of the Goal Setting Theory states that goals are the remarry drivers of the intensity and persistence of effort.This program is going to be successful since the goals to be met are specific, accompanied by feedback, and difficult, but accepted by the workers. These aspects of the program will increase the overall performance of the workers, meaning more potholes will be filled in the approved manner, therefore, decreasing the number of complaints in the city and damages to the residents' cars. Since the duties assigned to the workers are meant to help the community, it is safe to say that their Job performance is meaningful.The errors have a clear, spelled out Job description and a list of tasks they need to complete, in the order they need to complete them. With their specific Job description and the workers helping out the community, overall Job satisfaction will rise, increasing Job productivity. â€Å"Meaningful work and Job sa tisfaction are linked,† (Weir, 2013) and typically lead to overall life satisfaction. Goals set by the highway administrator's program were specific. The standard set by the highway administrator were that each crew was to fill 20% more potholes than they usually fill on a daily basis.This aspect of the goal is extremely efficient and specific which gives the workers a clear idea of what they need to do at work. If the goal were to simply â€Å"fill more potholes than you normally fill† than each crew could fill one more pothole than they normally do and still meet the goal, but this would probably not complete as much work done as fast as it needs to completed. This goal is also a clear standard because of the different working conditions each crew operates in. Asking each crew to fill five more potholes than normal might prove to be easy for one crew and extremely difficult for another, depending on the conditions.Each crew was also given a step-by-step sheet on how t o properly fill each pothole. This will create a filled pothole that will last longer, therefore, making less work for the future. The feedback that accompanies each goal comes at the end of each week. Feedback is objective information about performance. Motivational feedback serves as a reward and the highway administrator clearly understands that since he is using rewards to drive his employees' productivity. (Hogue, 2004) Each week, the highway administrator will post performance data on a board for all of the other crews to view.Since there are only rewards and no harsh consequences, this creates friendly competition for each crew. The crew who has the most potholes filled at the end of each week wins tickets to a sports game in their locality. Since there is an incentive involved with the weekly performance, the crews will work much harder in order to come first and win the reward. This will drive up the work performance significantly since the reward is something people know t hey will enjoy. Finally, the goals are official, yet accepted by the workers. It may not be easy at first to fill 20% more potholes than average.Once the crews realize the goals are difficult, yet not impossible, the intensity and persistence of the workers will maximize in order to be the best and finish the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Each crew will work their hardest to fill many potholes as possible. The incentives come into play once again when it comes to the goal being difficult since each crew knows if they work harder, they will achieve more potholes than the other crews. It is also beneficial to he program that performance statistics aren't posted until the end of the week.If they were to post performance statistics every day, crews with lower performance may feel discouraged if they are not filling the most potholes, leading them to not work as hard as they may feel they don't have a chance. The highway administrator's goal setting program is meant to rai se productivity and I predict that is exactly what will happen. Since the goal setting program is based off of the goal setting theory, it needs to follow three important aspects to be successful. When the goals are specific, accompanied by feedback, and difficult, but accepted by employees, they increase the performance of the workers.These aspects serve as the primary drivers of the intensity and persistence of effort. â€Å"In order for an organization to be successful they must continuously ensure the satisfaction of their employees. † (Yip, Goldman, Martin, 2009) Taking the goal setting theory into consideration, the ultimate goal is for the goal setting program to be successful. When workers are satisfied with their Job and the work they've done, along with possible rewards they may have earned, they will intuition to work harder. This is mainly since work itself has a strong correlation with job satisfaction.If someone is not satisfied with the work they do, they may n ot want to work as hard or be as productive. Employees that like their work find it easy to work harder and strive for their best. They do this by setting personal goals for themselves, relating to work, and achieving them. Each crew may come up with team and individual strategies in order to employ every effort to fill the most potholes. This program will raise the workers' productivity by raising the workers' satisfaction. If I were the highway administrator, I would implement the same program with minor tweaks.Ultimately, I feel that this program will drive workers to increase productivity and fill more potholes. With this result and more potholes filled, complaints from the citizens and damages to their cars' will decrease immensely. This would improve the overall moral of the city if more potholes were filled. The reward aspect of this program is one of the most important parts. â€Å"A good reward system should foster personal growth and development and keep talented people f rom leaving† (Grittier, 1998). This program does Just that, which is why I agree with it and how it will affect the workflow.When individuals set goals for themselves as well as try to receive rewards that may be awarded to them, they grow as a person and do not want to leave due to Job satisfaction and potential rewards. This leads to affective commitment by the workers. Workers will stay with the organization because they want to, not because they feel obligated or need to due to their financial situation. The only aspect I would change about this program is the percentage of potholes that need to be filled. I would survey each crews work area and give them team goals to meet.Anything above that would be compared to the other teams and the crew who was most effective would receive the reward. Overall, the highway administrator's goal setting program will work effectively and serve it's purpose of filling more potholes to construct a better community environment.

According to the code, a CPA â€Å"knowing misrepresentations in the preparations of financial statements or records, or permits or directs another to sign, a document holding significantly false and deceptive information† (AICPA, 2012). Mr. Fink was guilty of participating in backdating several shipping documents meant to correct on expiring letters of credit whose terms had been defaulted. There were other discrepancies detected in the bill of lading in the year 1996 that did not tally with the inland bill of lading signed the same year. He also signed forms 10-QSB in the second and third quarter of 1996 in full knowledge of the inability of the firm regarding the fulfillment of the contract terms of sale. After the completion of the investigations, Mr. Paul Fink was also guilty of violating Rule 102 on integrity and objectivity. Following the scrutiny of the evidence by the Joint Trial Board, Mr. Paul membership with AICPA was terminated and his practice certificates revoked. The disciplinary action taken on Mr. Paul was justified. This is because the CPAs perform a fundamental role in society. All the members of AICPA should be consistent with the requirements of the body (AICPA, 2012). Failure to do so, Mr. Paul failed to take the responsibility of representing his professional ethics as required thus breaching the stakeholders trust towards the body and the business. T he AICPA can prevent this type of breach in the code of conduct by ensuring that the CPAs frequently observe their needed commitment to the code. The penalties administered should also be strict in order to curb further breach in the code. Rule 201: Professional Competence The code of professional competence requires a CPA to safeguard a clients’ data. Rule 201 states that â€Å"a member remains responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the services provided by third-party provider† (AICPA, 2012). Therefore, a CPA should provide professional services performed with professional competence and care. David Beck of Lexington allegedly violated the code in the year 2010 where he was accused of lack of professional services in relation with the audit of a business entity. In his practice, he failed to comply with the standards by failing to plan and conduct the engagement, failing to participate in the planning meetings and organizing the audit staffing (Rit tenberg, Johnstone & Gramling, 2010). In addition, he failed to record the necessary documents and details of his audit procedures. How to Write an Article Review Essay Writing an article review, which is also sometimes referred to as an article critique, is a special type of writing that involves reading an article and then providing the reader with your personal take on its content. In general, article review essays should start with a heading that includes a citation of the sources that are being reviewed. The first paragraph, which is the introduction to the article review, should provide a summary of the article highlights. This summary should not provide every last detail about the article being reviewed. Rather, it should only discuss the most important details. If you find yourself carrying on or needing more than one paragraph to write your summary, you need to revisit the paragraph and find ways to trim down the length of your summary. Following the brief summary of your article, you will then need to explain why the article is significant. Questions you should ask yourself when writing these paragraphs include: Does the article fill a void within the literature that already exists on the topic? Does the article contain any information that would be considered â€Å"breakthrough† information? Will the information contained within this article cause other people in the field to change their ideas about the subject matter or does it simply revisit information that is already known in the field? In your final paragraphs, you will need to present your personal evaluation of the article. Some questions you should ask yourself in order to come up with your personal evaluation include whether or not the article is well written and clear. You should also consider whether or not any information was missing and if more research is needed on the topic. If you are writing the article review for a class, try to connect the article to organizational and industrial experience and try to connect the content of the article to information that you have been studying in your course. For instance if we use a 10 tall inch spring at free height with 200 lb/in rate, with a compressed height of 6 inches, the support will be around 800 pounds at that height (De Los Santos, 2009) How do we calculate the spring rate? By using the following formula we are able to find out the spring rate of the compressed spring. Hence we are going to modify the 1995 Impala SS (Appendix 1). This modification will be simply achieved by cutting the springs. This will result in reducing the free length and spring height. Since we do not have access to the real material, this modification will be done in a virtual way by using calculation. Data: number of active coils = 6.5 inches Wire diameter = 0.685 Outside diameter of spring = 5.4375 inches Free length = 16.5 inches Compressed length = 14.05 inches By using the formula above, the conclusion of the spring rate will be 443.76 pounds/ inches (as on the appendix 1). If we want to modify this spring, we will cut one coil that will decrease the number of coils from 6.5 inches to 5.5 inches of active coils, outside diameter and wire diameter will remain the same and free length will change from 16.5 inches to 15.5 inches and compressed length from 14.05 to 13.05 inches. Results: K = = 11,250,000 x 0.6854 / 8 x 5.5 x 4.75253 K = 524.44 pounds/inch The result from the modification shows that the spring rate has been increased by 80.68 pounds/inch. According to Law Volume Vehicle Technical Association (Inc), (2000), states that no modification for changing the height of the vehicle should be done without the spring manufacturer and the heat method should not be used during the modification (Appendix 2). AA New Zealand allows modification of the road springs or shock absorbers if they are fitted as a direct replacement for the originals and should be fitted exactly the same way without raising or lowering the vehicle. Modifying the vehicle without a professional certifier could prevent the vehicle from getting WOF (Appendix 3). Discussion It is essential when modifying the coil spring to consider what reason we are modifying the spring. Other aspects that need to be considered are spring rate, spring index, total share stress and spring axial deflection. The whole suspension system might not perform as it should if proper procedures are not followed. Safety regulations should also be the main priority at all times when dealing with coil spring modification and the suspension system in general. Conclusion According to the results of the experiment in this report, it can be seen that by decreasing the spring height, the spring rate increases. By cutting the spring, we change the appearance of the car to be closer to the ground. It is very important to understand the disadvantages and advantages of what we are trying to achieve. It is also necessary for the driver to understand the change the modification will bring when using the vehicle in different environment. Having just experienced the sinking of his family’s ship, and being put onto a life boat with only a hyena, Pi felt completely lost and alone. When he sees Richard Parker, the Bengal tiger from his family’s zoo, it is a familiar face to him. His initial reaction is to save the life of his familiar friend so that he may have a companion, and a protector aboard the lifeboat. Suddenly Pi realizes just what he is doing. He is saving the life of Richard Parker, by welcoming him, a 450 pound Bengal tiger, onto the small lifeboat. He experiences a change of heart when helping the tiger onto the boat. Pi realizes that he is now posing a threat on his own life. With Richard Parker on the boat, Pi is faced with not only the fight to survive stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but the fight to survive living with a meat eating tiger. The change of heart that Pi experiences might possibly mean that he is an impulsive thinker. It may mean that he often does something on im pulse without thinking it through, and then later regrets his actions. 1) Discuss the training requirements for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAS). Higher level teaching assistants (HLTAS) have a variety of training requirements to adhere to for example numerical and literacy skills up to NVQ level 2 which ensures that they are able and confident in what they are teaching. HLTAS should also have a broad knowledge of learning strategies from independent to group within the curriculum to allow a pupil to fulfil their potential.HLTAS should also have a solid knowledge of the curriculum along with skills in curriculum development and delivery this is to allow HLTAS to be able to teach to a high standard and be aware of what a pupil needs to do to get them to move up a sub level or level in different subjects. In addition to this most HLTAS are required to have experience with the children that they are assigned to work with whether this be young children teenagers, special needs or gifted and talented.It is also recommended that HLTAS have a sound kno wledge of ICT to allow this to be implanted across the curriculum and in order to adhere to certain procedures within the school such as using behaviour programmes online or for cross curriculum to be implanted. Policies and procedures are also required for HLTAS to be aware of and able to draw upon when and if needed, also to allow HLTAS to know the policies the school has on safeguarding, bullying and many others.HLTAS should also be confident in regulations and laws surrounding the area in which they are working with whether this be the every child matters act or the children in care act for LAC children. HLTAS should be able to discuss development stages form birth to teenager including speech and language stages. HLTAS should also be confident administering assessments as well as marking them with the correct levels which is why HLTAS need a sound knowledge of the curriculum so that they are able to do this. HLTAS should also have good organisation skills in order to keep the c lass running smoothly and that all procedures are followed.HLTAS should have good self-evaluation skills in order to look at their teaching critically in order to reflect on it and improve. Furthermore HLTAS should have good team work skills so that they can share planning teaching and evaluating themselves and other within the team also for support within the school environment. 2) What are the National Occupational Standards (NOS)? What purpose do they serve? The National Occupational Standards (NOS) are performance standards that specify what skills and knowledge a HLTA should have in order to perform in their role.NOS provide a valuable resource to schools that use them to assist in the creation of job descriptions and roles and responsibilities, as well as underpinning training, progression and supporting development needs of staff. They were developed by representatives and different employers in a variety of sectors within education. Three Possible Learning Theories Integrated By AIU Online Within The Course

I. IntroductionAmerican intercontinental University has adopted various learning theories to cater for the needs of everyone in the world. These theories include: Gagne’s conditions of learning, the importance of structuring and sequencing of instruction, the socially mediated aspects of learning, individual construction of knowledge through experience and external constraints, experiential knowledge resident within and among adult learners and fostering deep learning.II. Background on LearningLearning is a gradual change in behavior due to practice or experience.  Some proponents who have studied this are Gagne, Reigeluth and Piaget.III. Theories.A. Conditions of learning by Gagne who was an American Psychologist. In his findings and research realized that there is a great connection between learning objectives and appropriate instructional designs. In 1965 he published the book that categorized learning into five taxonomies; 1. Category is verbal information: this is very important in learning process since it will provide the learner with an opportunity to take in the information, analyze it into a meaningful context and encode it to his/her own understanding.2. There are intellectual skills which are required in any learning. To define, classify or apply a concept to solve any problem. 3. Taxonomy is cognitive strategies which the learner employs his or her ways in learning, thinking and doing things. 4. Taxonomy is attitudes; this will enable the learner to use personalized actions to solve normal daily problems. 5. The use of motor skills, one must use what he/she has learnt to perform certain actions using muscles. B. Elaboration theory which shows importance of selecting, structuring and sequencing information.Reigeluth (1979) gave the principles for planning and organizing instruction. Whereby, the instruction must be organized in order of complexity for optimal learning. The learner should develop meaningful concepts to base subsequent ideas and skills. C. Theory fostering deep thinking by Piaget. Piaget said that, there is need to foster deep learning. This enables the students to capitalize in emerging opportunities and be able to meet the ever changing demands of employees.IV. Active Learning Strategies and Exploratory Learning StrategiesThe types of active and exploratory learning strategy include: investigating a system using personal initiative to a real or artificial task, studying a controlled setting with special attention to newly acquired systems, using diaries and structured interviews that focus on learning events, field study, task-oriented explorations, using support from manuals/users/system support personnel and designing a system, and training.V. Electronic Learning Support Technologies There are different learning supports available like; Electronic based facilities, resources and services that are always available.These may be mobile learning, e-learning, web based, interactive television, cable tele vision, video conferencing and use of emails. Parts of Speech Essay

When the idea of the traditional eight parts of speech comes to mind, flashbacks to sitting in the back row of my middle school English language class flourish through my brain. I don’t remember too much about them today, however I do know that it was drilled into my brain until we could fully understand and use them all. The eight parts of speech: such a key component of language, yet such a complicated piece of my learning career. Out of all eight of the parts of speech, the verb, the noun, the pronoun, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection, the ones that I remember the most are the verb and the noun. I am not quite sure how such basic ideas of language can be so complicated to actually explain. My previous days of schooling were definitely not the most challenging or puzzling. So how is it that I use these in depth concepts in daily conversations? I honestly think that in my earlier school days, we simply discussed all of these eight parts of our language and never actually were shown how they are all connected. As I look back now, the approach to teaching the basic patterns of the English language, such as these key parts of speech, have never been too effective. These parts of speech constantly keep being brought up in my daily life yet somewhere along the lines, we get caught up in simply knowing the parts of speech rather than being able to use them effectively on our pieces of written work. All of these great facts have no purpose if we are unable to use them in our daily lives. Reminiscing back to this seemingly simple concept really does stress how important proper grammar and knowing how to make the eight parts of speech useful truly is. As a student entering the world of learning again, the importance of being a good writer and being well-spoken increasingly influences my life. To be a good writer is one thing, to honestly know what you’re trying to portray through your work is a completely different idea on it’s own. Being knowledgeable about the parts of speech and how they can be used in many facets of language is fantastic. Naming the parts of speech in isolation does not bring focus to how important these words can be, but knowing how to effectively use them in writing is what truly is important. These eight  concepts of writing came up all throughout the early years of my educational career and they’re importance is brewing back up once again in my life. Concepts in language never go away, making them one of the most important and best things you can ever learn, just hopefully this time they can stick!

The findings based on pestel framework (See Appendix 1) and Poster’s five forces (See Appendix 2) are as follows: An analysis of the political environment revealed that governments around the world are tightening immigration regulations due to the surge in terrorism the implication of which is a reduction in the number of global traveller thus posing a threat to airline including Arik Air. However liberalization and Deregulation efforts are being made in several regions of the world with Asia setting a target for the full liberalization of its skies by the year 2015. This is projected to boost aviation industry performance by creating avenue for fair competition platform between more established airlines and the growing competitors like Arik Air(Bailey, 1986; Smith Ting, 2008). The rising fuel price is a matter of economic concern in the world, with Aviation fuel price estimated at $85 per barrel (IATA, 2010: online) the implication of which is an increase in running cost for airlines and this poses a high threat to Airlines. However, there is optimism that a global economic recovery is on the way with the world economy expected to grow 2.7% in 2010 (World Bank, 2010: Online) and the aviation industry is forecasted to reduce its loss from $5.8 Billion in 2009 to $2.8 Billion in 2010. Properties of Gases Essay Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to examine different properties of gases in order to be able to identify them in a laboratory setting. I will be using Hydrochloric acid, mossy zinc, Bromothymol blue, limewater, Manganese, and Alka Seltzer, to test different properties of gases formed by chemical reactions. In order to extract the gas I will use several household products such as vinegar, baking soda, water, and hydrogen peroxide in order to create the gases to be tested. Materials: Student Provided 1 Match 1 Toothpicks (or wooden splints) 1 Pie tin or similar 1 Marker pen 1 Household white vinegar 1 3% Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) 1 Measuring spoons 1 Drinking straw 1 Tissue paper 1 Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) From LabPaq 1 Goggles-Safety 1 Test Tube (5), 13 x 100 mm in Bubble Bag 1 Well-Plate-24 Auxiliary Supplies Bag Auxiliary Supplies Bag- CK1 1 Gas Assembly; copper/plastic tubing in #00 Stopper 1 Pipet, Empty Short Stem 1 Rubber stopper, #00, 1 hole, Pipet tip w/plastic Gas delivery tube Experiment Bag Properties of Gases 2 Alka Seltzer ® (1/4 tablet) in Bag 2 x 3 1 Bromothymol Blue, 0. 04% 4 mL in Pipet 1 Hydrochloric Acid, 2 M 20 mL in Dropper Bottle 1 Limewater (Calcium Hydroxide, Saturated) 6 mL in Pipet 1 Manganese Metal Pieces 4-6 Pieces in Bag 2 x 3 3 Pipet Bulbs, Wide-Neck with 1/4 Stem 1 Zinc, Mossy 4-6 Pieces in Bag 2 x 3 Procedure: 1) Hydrogen a) I placed a small amount of ZN( mossy zinc) in the test tube containing HCL b) I then capped the test tube with the small cap that allowed gas release from the top and placed it in one of the 24 well plates. I wedged the test tune in with a bit of toilet paper. c) I then filled the large stem pipet with water and placed it atop the rubber stopper. d) I placed the well plate in a pie tin to prevent the overflow from getting everywhere. e) After the water was replaced entirely with hydrogen I removed the wide mouthed pipet and placed my finger over the opening to prevent any gas from escaping. f) I lit a match and while holding the pipet about 1cm away from the flame blew the gas onto the flame, and recorded my observations in the table. g) With a marker I marked the wide-neck pipet on the outside into three parts h) I filled the bulb with water and set it on the test tube as before. i) Once the bulb was 2/3 full of gas I removed it and placed it aside, still inverted, for later use j) I then disassembled and rinsed the tools and threw away the ZN. 2) Oxygen A) I placed a few pieces of Mn (Manganese) into the second test tube. B) I filled the test tube to within 1cm of the top with hydrogen peroxide. Afterwards I placed the rubber stopper on the test tube and the test tube in the well plate. . C) I then filled another wide-neck pipet completely with  water and placed it on the top of the stopper in the test tube. D) After the water was displaced I removed the pipet and placed my finger over the opening to prevent any gas from leaking. E) I lit a match and extinguished it. While the match was still glowing I placed it inside the pipet and recorded the reaction. 3) Hydrogen and Oxygen Mixture A) I took the pipet from part 1 that is partially filled with hydrogen and placed it on the generation test tube from part 2. B) I let the bulb fill until the water was completely displaced. The mixture was about 2/3 hydrogen and 1/3 oxygen C) I removed the bulb and placed my finger over the open end to prevent any gas from escaping D) I lit a match, held the pipet horizontally about 1cm away from the flame and squeezed the gas onto the flame. E) I recorded my observations in the table. F) I disassembled the test tube washed the contents down the drain and rinsed the tools. 4) Carbon Dioxide A) Part I a) I placed approximately .5 ml of limewater in one well of the 24 well plate. b) I placed  ½ a teaspoon of baking soda in the generation test tube. c) I filled a pipet halfway with vinegar and added it to the baking soda. Immediately after the two stopped reacting I placed the rubber stopper with the copper and plastic gas delivery tube on the top of the test tube. d) I placed the open end of the tube into the well with limewater and recorded the reaction. B) Part II a) I placed approximately .5ml of Bromothymol blue in one of the wells. b) I thoroughly rinsed the gas generation test tube with water and set up another test with baking soda and vinegar as in part 1. c) After putting the stopper in place I inserted the open tube into the Bromothymol blue. d) I removed the stopper from the generation tube. e) I lit a match and inserted the flame into the upper part of the test tube. f) I recorded my observations. C) Part III a) I poured the chemicals down the sink and flushed with water. b) I put approximately .5 ml of limewater into another well. c) I crumbled the small piece of Alka Seltzer into a test tube d) I added one pipet full of water to the test tube and immediately inserted the stopper with the gas delivery tube. e) I placed the open end of the tube into the limewater well. f) I washed the test tube and well thoroughly with water. D) Part IV a) I put approximately .5 ml of limewater into a test tube. b) I inserted a straw and blew for a few seconds. c) I recorded my observations d) I washed the tools and flushed the limewater down the sink. First we do this because maximizing the pressure in the tube will maximize gasses. Secondly because this causes there to be a shorter distance for the gases to traveled B) What happens to the zinc in the hydrogen generation experiment? The mossy zinc causes a reaction with the HCL to form hydrogen gas. C) What happens in the oxygen generation experiment? The manganese reacts with the hydrogen peroxide to form oxygen. D) Write a balanced equation for the reaction between O2 and H2. 2H2 +O22H2O E) What is the function/purpose of the Bromothymol blue in the CO2 experiment? The Bromothymol blue in the CO2 experiment is used to indicate how much CO2 is in the solution. It indicates this with a color change. F) Bromothymol blue is blue in the presence of basic solutions and yellow in the presence of acidic solutions. If your solution is a murky green, what  might you assume about the solution I would assume the solution was neutral. Conclusion: In conclusion, I learned that properties of gases vary vastly in their reactions with flame, and other substances. I also learned how to create such gases in a controlled environment for future experimentation. The effect of these reactions put into perspective how dangerous gases can be and how their proper storage and transportation is a vital essential in our daily lives. Seeing the different reactions will make me more cautious of the way I materials.
